My Style of Creating Portraits ~ I love photographing children while they are at play in an outdoor setting. They are happy and at ease allowing me to capture a variety of priceless expressions and moods: pensive, mischievous, silly, joyful, sad, curious, etc. Displaying a montage of these various images on your wall will create a personal art gallery illustrating the many facets of your child’s personality. This can be much more dramatic and telling than a single wall portrait. Session Details ~ Portrait sessions are typically one to two hours and are done on location - your home or an outdoor location of your choice. Some favorite locations are Wintler Park (on the shores of the Columbia River), Goot Park, Hathaway Park and Esther Short Park. The sessions are fun and relaxing for the children, parents and the photographer. Sessions are scheduled from April 1st to October 31st. |

What to Wear for your Portraits ~ Clothing is a very important part of your finished portrait. Wearing solid fabrics will keep the focus on your child, where patterns and designs can be distracting. Even a small logo on a shirt or dress can distract. Group portraits will have a fluid look when all the clothing is the same style and tones. With black and white portraits colors become tones; whites and pastels are light tones, reds and blues are mid-tones, and blacks and browns are dark tones. I prefer the darker tones as the human eye naturally is attracted to the brightest part of the portrait. The face should be the brightest part of the portrait, not the clothing. |

After the Session ~ Within two weeks after the session we will meet and go through your proofs, approximately 70-100, 4x6, black and white prints. Since you own the negatives, you may reproduce them independently at your leisure. I will suggest professional labs for you to use for reproductions and enlargements. Guidance on cropping and size selection will also be shared with you at this time. |
